Isothiazolinone preservatives (e.g., methylisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazolinone)
Harsh detergents / sulfates (e.g., SLS, SLES, ammonium lauryl sulfate, ammonium laureth sulfate)
Ethoxylated ingredients & PEG compounds (including PEGs, “-eth” ingredients such as ceteareth, laureth, ceteth, etc.)
Synthetic UV filters (e.g., oxybenzone, octinoxate, octocrylene, homosalate, avobenzone, octisalate, PABA)
Petroleum-derived occlusives (e.g., mineral oil, petrolatum, paraffin)
Plastic microbeads and other non-biodegradable exfoliating plastics
Propellants / aerosol systems (e.g., isobutane, isopentane)
Artificial colors and FD&C dyes
Skin-bleaching agents (e.g., hydroquinone)
Nanotechnology-based ingredients (where used as delivery systems, including nano-sunscreen tech)
